(A part of the Home & Community Care Program - HACC)
(A non-profit Organisation)
Auspiced by the Tumut Shire Council
Incorporating ALL the Villages within the Tumut Shire!
The Home and Community Care (HACC) program was a Commonwealth Initiative commenced in 1985. This is a means of intergrating a range of services for people who are frail aged, younger disabled and the carers of those people to facilitate the client to remain living in their own homes for as long as possible.
The HACC program is a State/Territory and Federally funded project, and the "Tumut District Community Transport" is a sub-program of HACC.
This program is currently administered through the NSW Transport & Infrastructure, and is auspiced by the Tumut Shire Council.
The area we are funded to service is the Tumut Shire.
There is also funding from the NSW State Health Department to help assist the general community access Health Professionals.
We also have funding from the NSW Transport & Infrastructure which covers transport for the Community of Brungle. This is known as CTP funding (Community Transport Funding), which addresses the Isolation of this Community. (Brungle)
We provide transport for people in our Community, who are frail aged, people who have a disability, and for their carer's!
We provide this service so that they may keep medical appointments, go shopping, and for recreational trips.
One of our aims is to assist people to remain living in their own homes, for as long as possible!
We also address the needs of those people who are isolated, and transport disadvantaged - in conjunction with our H.A.C.C clients -
We use our Wheel-chair modified - 10 seater VW Bus, our Toyota 'Hi-Ace', and our Mazda Station Wagon and we have just recently purchased 2 Honda Odyssey station wagons to round off our fleet.
We have one full time driver, but it is the Volunteers who do the majority of the driving for the 900+ trips per year!
Wonderful people from our Community who donate their time, so that the needs of the Local Community, are met and achieved.
Many of these trips are to Wagga Wagga, Canberra, Albury, and of course our Local trips.
Over 104,000 kilometers travelled in the 2010 year and still growing!
