Passengers Rights & Responsibilities.
The Tumut District Community Transport Service have them
and it's Volunteer's have them,
Passengers also have certain Rights & Responsibilities
to which they must adhere!!!
The Passengers Rights!
- The Passenger or with their permission, their Carer, has access to all information about themselves, held by the Tumut District Community Transport Service.
- In cases where a Passenger has a legal guardian or advocate appointed to act on their behalf, the rights of the guardian or advocate, are to be acknowledged and respected to the extent stipulated in the guardianship or advocacy arrangements.
- The Passenger and with their permission, their Carer, should be involved in decisions about their transport arrangements. They should be aware of ALL the options available, and any fees to be charged.
- Passenger's should be made aware of the standard of service which they can expect.
That these services should be provided in a safe manner, which respects the dignity and independance of the Passenger and that it is responsive to the social, cultural and the physical needs of the Passenger, and to the Carer! - Passenger's access to services, should be decided only on the basis of need, and the capacity of the service, to meet that need!
- Passengers have the right to refuse a service, and refusal should not prejudice their future access to services!
- Passenger's, have a right to complain about the service they are receiving, without fear of retribution.
- Complaints by Passengers , should be dealt with fairly, promptly and without retribution! The Passenger, may involve an advocate of their choice, to represent his/her interests.
- Passengers views, should be taken into account, in the planning and evaluation of the service.
- Passenger rights to privacy and confidentiality, should be respected!
The Passengers Responsibilities!
- Passengers should let Tumut District Community Transport Service know, when he/she, is not going to use the service, when it has been booked!
- Passengers, should act in a way, which respects the rights of the other Passengers, and the Tumut District Community Transport Service, staff.
- Passengers need to take responsibility for the results of any decisions they make.
- Passengers, are encouraged to be involved in helping Tumut, and the Tumut District Community Transport Service, to provide this service in the community.

Details here: | Contact us! | - Passengers are not to drink alcoholic beverages, smoke or use drugs, except those prescribed, by your medical practioner.
"Carer- Assistant" in vehicle.
- Office will notify Volunteer Carer of the time and place of pick-up.
- On the bus, you may be asked to assist clients from their own door to bus, via steps or hoist. (If necessary)
- Instruction on operation of hoist will be given in your Orientation before you are asked to use it!
- After client enters the vehicle, make sure they are safely seated and that their seat-belts are secure!
If they are in a wheelchair, they must be strapped in securely, before the vehicle moves off! - At the destination, please assist the client from the bus, and if necessary, into where the appointment is.
i.e doctor's surgery, etc. - If asked by driver, collect fare/contribution from client and mark on client list!
- DO NOT force your assistance onto clients , some are very independant!
- On return to pick-up point/s, you may be asked to assist the client from the bus to their own door! (If necassary)
N.B. AT ALL TIMES, BE GUIDED BY THE DRIVER!
